PDF/UA-1 rule 7.1-9: Metadata stream does not contain dc:title

Fixed by the automatic fix metadata

What veraPDF reports

Metadata stream does not contain dc:title

veraPDF rule 7.1-9 = ISO 14289-1:2014 clause 7.1, test 9, checked on PDF object MainXMPPackage.

In Adobe Acrobat’s Accessibility Checker the closest item is “Title”.

What the requirement says

The Metadata stream in the document's catalog dictionary shall contain a dc:title entry, where dc is the recommended prefix for the Dublin Core metadata schema as defined in the XMP specification, which clearly identifies the document

Can it be fixed automatically?

Fixed by the automatic fix. Our automatic fix removed this failure in every test file where veraPDF reported it (measured 2026-10-24 with veraPDF 1.28.2). Run the free check to see the before/after result for your own file before paying.

How to fix it by hand

Give the document a title in the authoring application's document properties (for example File › Info › Title in Word) before export, or set it in a PDF editor's document properties, so that it is written to the XMP metadata as dc:title.
