PDF/UA-1 rule 7.16-1: The file is encrypted but does not contain a P entry in its encryption dictionary or the file is encrypted and does contain a P entry, but the 10th bit position of the P entry is false
Not fixed automaticallysyntax
What veraPDF reports
The file is encrypted but does not contain a P entry in its encryption dictionary or the file is encrypted and does contain a P entry, but the 10th bit position of the P entry is false (P = %1, 10th bit = %2)
veraPDF rule 7.16-1 = ISO 14289-1:2014 clause 7.16, test 1, checked on PDF object PDEncryption.
In Adobe Acrobat’s Accessibility Checker the closest item is “Accessibility permission flag”.
What the requirement says
An encrypted conforming file shall contain a P key in its encryption dictionary (ISO 32000-1:2008, 7.6.3.2, Table 21). The 10th bit position of the P key shall be true
Can it be fixed automatically?
Not fixed automatically. This failure needs the authoring tool or manual remediation; the automatic fix does not change it.
How to fix it by hand
This is a low-level PDF syntax requirement; it is usually fixed by exporting the file again with a current PDF producer or by saving it through a PDF editor.
