PDF/UA-1 rule 5-1: The document metadata stream doesn't contain PDF/UA Identification Schema

Fixed in some cases metadata

What veraPDF reports

The document metadata stream doesn't contain PDF/UA Identification Schema

veraPDF rule 5-1 = ISO 14289-1:2014 clause 5, test 1, checked on PDF object MainXMPPackage.

What the requirement says

The PDF/UA version and conformance level of a file shall be specified using the PDF/UA Identification extension schema

Can it be fixed automatically?

Fixed in some cases. Added only when veraPDF reports no other failed rule for the fixed file — otherwise the identifier would claim a conformance the file does not have.

How to fix it by hand

The PDF/UA identifier is a claim of conformance: add it only after every other PDF/UA failure is fixed (some editors do this on “save as PDF/UA”).

Upload the PDF: veraPDF lists every failed PDF/UA-1 rule, our fix runs, and veraPDF checks the fixed file again — you see “N failed rules before → M after” before deciding. The fixed file costs 19 € (excl. VAT); the check is free. We never call a file “accessible” or “compliant”.
