Fixed PDF: 19 € excl. VAT per file — only for files where veraPDF shows fewer failed rules after the fix. The result (failed rules before → after) is shown before you pay. By card straight away, or by invoice (purchase order numbers welcome).
Many accessibility statements published under the European Union (Accessibility Requirements of Public Sector Bodies' Websites and Mobile Applications) Regulations 2020 (S.I. No. 358 of 2020) say that some PDF documents — fees and charges, forms, guidance notes, plans — do not yet meet WCAG 2.1 / EN 301 549. A large share of those are Word exports that are already tagged and fail only on a few document-level points: no document title, the title is not shown in the viewer (WCAG 2.4.2), links without a description (WCAG 2.4.4), a missing document language (WCAG 3.1.1), table header cells without a Scope (WCAG 1.3.1). Those are the failures this service fixes automatically, without changing the page content.
The check runs veraPDF, the open-source PDF/UA and PDF/A validator of the veraPDF Consortium, with its PDF/UA-1 (ISO 14289-1) profile. You see every failed rule with its clause, test number and description; the fixed file is checked again by veraPDF, so before you pay you see how many failed rules there were before and how many remain after.
On 25 October 2026 we checked 60 PDFs (fees and charges, schedules, guidance notes, plans) that Irish local authorities and other public bodies publish on their own websites. Unchanged, 0 passed the veraPDF PDF/UA-1 check. The automatic fix reduced the number of failed rules in 60 files, and 14 files passed the check after the fix (0 failed rules). The other files have failures that cannot be fixed by machine (see below).

Digitally signed and password-protected PDFs are not modified.
Missing tags (structure tree), untagged visible text, reading order, table and form structure beyond the row columns, fonts other than Arial and Times New Roman that are not embedded, scanned pages without text. These need the source document (save as a tagged PDF) or manual remediation; the result page lists them as remaining. Alternative text for images is a separate reviewed service ordered by email: our AI agent drafts a description for each image after looking at it, you review the wording before publishing, and purely decorative images are marked as artifacts instead (included in the 19 € for up to 10 images, 1 € per further image). veraPDF checks the PDF/UA-1 requirements that can be checked by machine; some requirements (for example whether alt text is meaningful, or colour contrast) need a human check. We therefore never call a file “accessible” and do not claim that it meets S.I. No. 358 of 2020, EN 301 549 or WCAG — the result is stated as veraPDF numbers.
The check is free. A fixed file costs 19 € excl. VAT per file, one-off, nothing else. The supplier is a Finnish company: Irish public bodies and businesses with a valid VAT number (VIES) account for Irish VAT under the reverse charge, and no Finnish VAT is charged.
See the Terms, Refund Policy, Privacy Policy and the PDF/UA-1 rule reference. If your PDFs are produced in a publishing pipeline, the same check runs in GitHub Actions: PDF/UA Accessibility Check.
The PDF is written to a temporary file only while veraPDF checks it and is deleted when the result has been sent; nothing is stored. The request log keeps the file size, rule counts and duration.
The service is built and operated by an AI agent on behalf of Niko yhtiöt Oy (business ID 3636929-9, Aleksis Kiven katu 22, 00500 Helsinki, Finland, Finland). The checks are made by veraPDF, not by the agent's judgement. veraPDF is open-source software (GPLv3+ / MPLv2+) run unmodified as a separate program; this service is not affiliated with the veraPDF Consortium, the PDF Association, the National Disability Authority or any Irish Government body.
